Rachael Cooyou, the artist behind rae-wendy creations is an Aboriginal Elder from Payungu Country. Located along the Ningaloo Reef Coast and inland along the Minilya and Lyndon Rivers, north-east of the town of Carnarvon Western Australia.

Rachael’s Grandmother taught her to sew at a young age, which enabled her to venture into wearable art and start her own business. Today Rachael honours her with the name of her business; Rae-Wendy is the name Rachael’s Grandmother gave her. Rachael’s story is woven into her business and purpose.

Now ‘rae-wendy creations’ purpose is to share her stories, as there is a story behind each piece of artwork.

No-Waste Approach

Rachael doesn’t throw anything away when it can be repurposed for things like patchwork or accessories. By giving scrap material a second life, rae-wendy creations is being sustainable and creating stylish accessories to wear with pride.
